A Respected Women summary
The story 'A respected Woman' is written by Kate Chopin, whoose real name is Katherine O'Flaherty. She was an American novelist and short stories writer. The short story ' A respectable woman' is taken out from her collection " The awakening and Others Short stories (2005).
The short story 'A respectable woman' is structured around the character of Mrs Baroda and her inner conflict as she finds herself attracted to her husband's friend. The conflict follows the pattern of classical fiction and moves from exposition to rising action and then to climax and resolution.

The story was started as Mrs Baroda feel little proveked when he came to know that her husband had expected his friend Gouvernail, to spent two or more weeks on the plantation. Actually they had entertained a good deal during winter, so she want to take rest. When her husband's collage friend will come there, she will be disturbed and she can't spent time with her husband as she wish.
She had never seen to Gouvernail but she had listened so many good characteristics of him. Gouvernail was journalist. Mrs Baroda forms imaginary image on her mind that the Gouvernail would be tall, slim, cynical, with eyeglasses and his hands in his pockets and she didn't like him.
In real Gouvernail was slim but want tall, cynical and wear sunglasses nor carry his hands in his pocket. But rather she liked him in the first meet. She start loving him. But Gouvernail didn't pay any attention to her and didn't show any feeling of love towards her. He just respect her as sister-in-law.
Mrs Baroda wished that Gouvernail treat her as girlfriend and share a lots of love. But Gouvernail was so shy, he wasn't so friendly and comfort and open minded. Gouvernail didn't pay any attention to her and only talked with Gaston.
When Mrs Baroda realize that Gouvernail is not paying attention towards her and he is not attract with her the she began to hate him. But she also love her. So inner conflict started on her heart. She became to puzzled that she loves him or not. She even didn't know that she is doing right or wrong. She became more sad when she thought so but she thought about positive she became so become nervous. Even she didn't remember she is married. She just wish that Gouvernail would love her. But it was impossible that Gouvernail was best friend of Gaston. He couldn't Betty his friend. Mrs Baroda was totally confused that she like him or not.
One day when Gaston and Gouvernail sat together on the wide portico in the shade of one of the big Corinthian pillar, Gouvernail was smoking lazily and listining the experience's story of Gaston. Gaston was sugar planter. Gouvernail didn't care to fish, and displayed no eagerness to go out and kill grosbes when Gaston proposed doing so.
Mrs Baroda become more puzzle on Gouvernail personality. She couldn't even give decision her argue on her inner soul.
One day suddenly she asked to her husband that when did Gouvernail would leave their house. Gaston replied he will stay some more days and asked that why she has problem about him when he hadn't gave any problem to her. She replied that she would like him better if he did, iif he were more like others and she had to plan somewhat for his comfort and enjoyment.
Then one day Mrs Baroda argue with Gaston that she was going to town on her aunty house and she would return back when Gouvernail leaved the house. Otherwise she wouldn't back.
That night she went and sat alone upon a bench that stood beneath a live oak tree at the edge of the garvel walk. After sometimes she heard footsteps crunching the gravel. She could only saw the red point of a lighted cigar. She came to knew that the man was Gouvernail because she know her husband never used to smoke. He threw the cigar and sat beside her upon the bech. He gave white scarf to her saying that it was given by her husband. Mrs Baroda said thanks with slow voice. A silent appear for a while. And Gouvernail broke the silent and start saying his story. But Mrs Baroda wished to touch his face to lips with her sensitive finger tips. She didn't listen any words from Gouvernail and lost on her imagined world.
After a while a stronger the impulse grew to bring herself near him, the further in fact, did she draw away from him. She realized that she is a respectable woman of the society and she already had married with someone. Then she rose and left him there alone. She knew that there are some battles in life which a human being must fight alone.
In early morning she leave the home and return after Gouvernail depart. After sometime Gaston make plan to invite Gouvernail again in the summer. This time Mrs Baroda easily accept it. Gaston feel surprised and said that she had overcomed to hate Gouvernail. Then she reply by laughting and kissing him that she had overcome all the bad habits and dislinkihng Gouvernail.
In this way the story is ended. In the story inner conflict of a women id represented. And we must be socialize and be a repected in a Society and there are so many wars on human's life that they must solve them alone are the main theme of the story.
